I re-discovered something super awesome today, and just had to share it. You see, I was cleaning up and found an old back up cd. I slid it into my computer to discover a bounty of old stories and reports, as far back as my University days when I studied Psychology. I started to get intrigued by one document called “awareness”. What? I was learning about awareness 12 years ago? I guess so! As I read through the 13 page report, there was one study that really fascinated me:
It was a study on intuition. If you’re thinking what—people study this? Yup, they sure do. Well, in a study on intuition, they discovered, in a controlled scientific study that those who were able to shift into a positive state with ease were more intuitive.
On the other hand, the people who would get stuck in their negative mind-state had less of an ability to tap into their intuition.
Well, of course this makes sense! Think about it, if you get stuck in your negative story, your mind is so busy thinking, and ruminating about the past, or future, that it is unable to tap into the inner guidance and wisdom. So how do you get rid of the stories that are playing in your mind that are blocking you from tapping into your intuition? The answer is to meditate. Meditation is the practice of clearing your mind. As you clear your mind, you can have easy access to your intuitive genius. Taking the time to clean up your mind through the vehicle of meditation, helps to sweep away the negative states of mind. As you sweep away the negativity, you have a strengthened connection to your inner guidance. And yes, this is backed up by science. So my personal challenge to you this week, is to commit to 5 minutes a day of meditation. When you wake up, sit up in your bed, and for 5 minutes(set your timer!) follow your breath. Engage in this exercise as the technique to sweep up your mind(and yes, it can be really challenging and you may find yourself thinking every few seconds. This is all a part of the practice. The trick is, every time you catch yourself thinking—return your focus to your breath, to help you let the thought go). The benefits of the practice strengthen over time and with your daily commitment. Do you have a story when you followed your intuition and the result was Fantasttic? I want to hear about it! Let's inspire each other and share your story here in the comments! Comments are closed.
